So Now We Have a Race

Monday, June 9th, 2008

So the Fat Lady sang and Hillary heard the music. I can’t say I’m surprised, in fact I won a bet from a well-known political person who joined the Hillary bandwagon early on. I have said for over a year that this country has “Clinton Fatigue” and that her husband would lose her the race not help her win it.

Barak is a great choice for the Democratic Party for several reasons: he’s telegenic, a brilliant orator and can claim he’s not part of the Washington crowd. All valid points, but I believe none of those reasons will help him win.

Why? Because as the economy stagnates, oil escalates and the war in Iraq drags on, Americans are going to want experience at the helm not inexperience. It is a great campaign tactic to talk about being an outsider, but this country is famous for electing the insider. The last real outsider was Jimmy Carter–how’d that work out?

You heard it here first, Barak Obama will not be the next president of the United Sates it will be John McCain.

Rachel Ray is NOT a Terrorist

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

In spite of what you might have read, Rachel Ray, the perky spokesperson for Dunkin Donuts, is not a terrorist. Apparently (as I have said before) political correctness has run amok yet again.

I do not understand how blogger Michele Malkin can claim that the scarf Rachel wears in a Dunkin’ Donuts Internet spot is really a symbol in support of terrorism. I thought the “keffiyeh” was a traditional garment worn by many Arabs in the Middle East and was nothing more than a garment worn to protect from sun, sand and dust?

This is where we get into the political correctness issue. First, Dunkin’ Donuts should be ashamed of themselves for not telling Ms. Malkin to get a life. This was an Internet spot to sell coffee and such! Next you will hear that subliminal images were also present in the ad in support of terrorist activity. Unfortunately the donut folks took the easy way out and caved. And until we all stand up to this foolishness we will continue to be subjected to more idiot opinions.

As TVBR www.tvbr.com said in today’s column, “Geez. If somebody commits an atrocity while wearing an American flag pin, does that make it the chosen uniform of atrocity committers?”

See how stupid this can all get!

Odds and Ends

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I was cleaning my desk this long Memorial Day weekend and a few things came across my mind…

I went to D.C. this week to talk to the Federal Communications Commission about radio and TV issues. It’s amazing how people get to that city and lose all sense of common sense. And pollsters wonder why there is so much apathy about our leaders today? And then there is Senator Arlen “Single Bullet Theory” Specter (R-PA) who has nothing to do except worry about the Patriots and Spygate. Get on with governing, Senator!

My daughter turns 18 this week! Wow. How will my wife and I celebrate? Is crying allowed?

Did you see the article about Budweiser kicking in $21 million as part of settlement for the Station Nightclub fire? Okay, it was horrible that so many people died, but how do you justify suing the beer company any more than you can justify suing the radio station that promoted the event? I’ll answer that for you…they [Bud] have the deep pockets and that is what is wrong with the system today. We need tort reform and we need it now. Let’s start asking everyone who runs for office about capping rewards in lawsuits.

News flash for Mrs. Hilary Rodham Clinton…the fat lady has sung! It’s over. All you are doing now is hurting the party. Actually, forget I said that. Go right ahead keep on trucking. Go John McCain!

I trust you all had a great Memorial Day weekend and I hope you all took time out to think about the many men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
